A word from Paule
SONICS is a piece of the name of a "pre-punk" rock band from the 60s. Our SONICS model is a masculine-feminine derby with the Nomasei twist.
SONICS is massive but still elegant and comfortable. This is a pattern to play with colorful socks if you like that.
This type of shoe, called "derby" was invented in the 19th century in England by the Count of Derby (Edward Smith-Stanley) whose feet were too wide to put on and support the shoes of use at that time: brogues. His shoemaker made him a model opening wider on the sides to give more space to his chubby foot.
This model became a typology, very common today but which at the time was revolutionary for men… I let you imagine how revolutionary it was for women.
The origin of this typology was not very glam but the idea of a revolutionary inclusiveness for the time is totally!
After NONO the beautiful classic moccasin, the SONICS derby is a logical continuation in the boyish-chic category of Nomasei.
Also, SONICS in Athens explores the dark side of the city, the dark chaos of big cities that was part of the punk movement. Chaos, rebellion and darkness transformed into beauty and “cool-attitude”.
